MILLION POUND DEVELOPMENT GETS GO AHEAD AT RIVERSIDE STADIUM
22 November 2010
Institute FC today hosted an official reception to launch the start of the new million pound development at the Riverside Stadium with a sod cutting ceremony. The ceremony was attended by the First Minister, Mr Peter Robinson and Minister for DCAL, Mr Nelson McCausland. Also in attendance was the Mayor, Mr Colum Eastwood, Mr Dominic Walsh, Chairman, Sport (NI) and Mr Jack Grundie, IFA and VP of the Association of Senior Clubs.
FLOODLIGHTING REPLACEMENT PROJECT
The Irish Football Association has awarded a grant of 95%
towards replacement of the existing floodlighting to be installed by
Musco Lighting at Institute’s Riverside Stadium up to a
maximum cost of £180,000.00
The Club is now in the process of obtaining Planning Permission and following this it is envisaged the new scheme will be installed early in 2009.
When the scheme has passed through the planners and the final design is accepted by the IFA, the mast locations and more detailed lighting level information will be available here for viewing.
FLOODLIGHTING UPDATE 29 APRIL 2009
Tender documents for the Institute Floodlighting Project will be released to listed Civil and Electrical contractors on Thursday 30 April 2009 with a return date of 15 May 2009.
The tenders will be opened w/c 18 May 2009 and when the successful contractor is nominated, work will be ready to commence on what is envisaged to be a project of some 6 weeks duration. It is understood Planning Permission is imminent with no objections. This will hopefully be in place before the contractor is ready to be nominated.
If all goes to plan the work will be completed in the ‘closed season’ and ready for use at the commencement of new season.
The masts are designed to take a 800 Lux scheme and if the cost of putting in a generator with the higher power capacity and heavier cables can be accommodated financially at this stage it will mean we can upgrade to number of lights at any time in the future, if required. This will only be evaluated after the contract has been let as we have only been granted permission and funding for the 500 Lux scheme. Cost will be the governing factor in this decision and is more likely to be prohibitive at this time.
The generator will be housed in the compound at the rear of the changing rooms over at the Club Shop side of the ground and will be fenced off.
